Goldie Hawn is famous for the funny and confident women she portrays on screen, but the Academy Award-winning actress has been honest about her mental health struggles. Hawn says, they recommend taking three “breaks” a day in the classroom, which helps children relax and engage their emotions. He says: “We give them pro-social behavior, fun things to do, like gratitude journals and acts of kindness.” It’s all neurological: these activities help your mental state, Hawn says, and they help learning.

When she started the organization in 2003, Hawn recalls feeling like a “distraction,” talking about mental health before the conversation became what it is today. And while she points out that social media and the effects of the epidemic have had a negative impact on children’s mental health, she is also encouraged by the growing awareness. “People are really looking at it, talking about it, seeing the signs,” says Hawn, who recently celebrated MindUP’s 20th anniversary. “They’re engaged now.”

Hawn has found strategies that work for her mental health, too. She suffered from anxiety when she started in Hollywood in her early 20s, and began meditating in 1972. She also went to a psychologist for nine years “to understand my brain.” ,” he recalls. “And that was fun.”
